Melancholia to Begin Filming July 19, 2010 Trollhattan Sweeden
Melancholia, the new film by the Danish director Lars von Trier (who directed Antichrist, Dancer in the Dark and Breaking the Waves).
Cast includes John Hurt, Kirsten Dunst Charlotte Rampling, Kiefer Sutherland, Udo Kier, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Alexander Skarsgard and Stellan.
Melancholia will be the first incursion of Lars von Trier into the universe of the science fiction. Peter A. Jensen, president de Zentropa, the production company of Von Trier, described the project like a splendid film on the end of the world. The details of the scenario remain secret for the moment but Jensen however slipped that the story line would relate to a broad object coming from the space which approaches the Earth and which assigns the inhabitants of planet.
Zentropa Denmark will produce the project in partnership with the French company Slot Machine, Zentropa International in Cologne and the Swedish companies Memfis Film and Trollhattan Film.
