Kiefer Sutherland Confirmed to Feature as Lead in Fairytale of New York

Sutherland Will Romance Bosworth In ‘Fairytale Of New York’

Published on May 16, 2011 by Rob Fred Parker
Kiefer Sutherland and Kate Bosworth have been confirmed to feature as the leads in Lee Cleary'sromantic comedy Fairytale of New York. The film is currently in pre-production, and plans are to shoot in Northern Ireland, as well as the Big Apple. Sutherland will play a cynical yet charming Irish stand-up comedian who meets Bosworth's 'intriguing' American when he travels to New York, and an unlikely romance blossoms between them.
Producer Lisa Katselas comments;

Fairytale of New York lets us observe what most of us hope for in a relationship and then takes us further. To achieve this, we needed to find actors with a magical connection – and we have in Kiefer and Kate".

Both actors are also currently busy with other promising projects. Since ultra-hit series '24' has finished, Sutherland has completed Lars von Trier's new film 'Melancholia', which is currently showing at Cannes film festival, and it has been announced he will feature in crime thriller 'Sleight of Hand' (more on this role can be found here). Bosworth meanwhile will be seen in Rod Lurie's remake of cult thriller 'Straw Dogs', to be released this October, as well as Kat Coiro's comedy  'Life Happens', which will also appear later in the year.

Director Cleary has worked on a number of highly successful films as assistant director, including 'Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves' and the 'X-Men' series. The film's script has been Written by Jeff Murphy.
