Kiefer Sutherland Will Guest Voice on Simpsons Season Premiere

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — If you miss “24’s” Jack Bauer and are a fan of “The Simpsons,” I have some super news.

Kiefer Sutherland is a guest voice in the first show back Sept 25 on Fox. He plays a burned-out ex-spy who moves to Springfield where it’s quiet. “But he gets drawn back in,” executive producer Al Jean revealed at a tour of “The Simpsons” animation studio – Film Roman – Tuesday afternoon.

Jack Bauer Trends on Twitter

Jack Bauer Trends on Twitter
by Lynette Rice May 2, 2011

24-KeiferThose Jack Bauer fans just won’t give up: The infamous character from Fox’s long-running drama 24 was a big trending topic on Twitter late Sunday in light of the Osama Bin Laden news – no doubt because many were thinking (hoping?) a Bauer-like embed was responsible for the “actionable intelligence” that led to President Obama’s press conference.
Here’s the good news: Kiefer Sutherland could be back on Fox this fall. Now, the bad news: He won’t be reprising his role as a counter-terrorism agent. Instead, he’s playing a dad whose autistic son can predict events before they happen in a project called Touch. The drama’s from Tim Kring (Heroes) and is already generating great buzz.
But a return of Bauer is still in the cards. A big-screen version of the drama remains in the works at 20th Century Fox, and producer Brian Grazer (whose company, Imagine Entertainment, was behind the TV show) recently acknowledged  that he’s on board. In March, Sutherland told the women of The View that the movie will come out in 2012. Hey Kief: Care to rethink that timeline now?

Jack Bauer became a worldwide trending topic on Twitter following the death of Osama bin Laden.
Tweeters thanked Bauer, the main character in Fox’s “24,” for doing away with public enemy number one. One tweeter on the topic said, “Let's all take this time to thank the one person who no doubt was behind the killing of Osama bin Laden: Jack Bauer.”
Kiefer Sutherland, who played Bauer on “24,” kept the trend alive by tweeting on Sunday, “Today's line for luck: "We performed the impossible, boys, never forget that, never."
On Tuesday, he added, “Sometimes real life is better than fiction. The world is a safer place.”
Considering a “24” movie is scheduled for release in 2012, it’s no surprise that Sutherland is playing along.

Kiefer Sutherland Will Be Appearing On The Simpsons This Fall 2011

Kiefer Sutherland Will Be Appearing On The Simpsons This Fall

On March 3, Fox's The Simpsons will begin recording voice talent for their 23rd season! As for Sutherland, he'll voice a character very similar to his 24 crusader. "It's Jack Bauer now — no longer working," previews Jean. "So he goes to Springfield becausetoo many people are trying to kill him. He befriends the Simpsons, but then one of the guys who wants to kill him sees him on YouTube after he foils a robbery at Moe's Tavern."

Jack Bauer's Dismal Ending: 24 Season 8

Jack Bauer’s Dismal Ending -24

The season finale of 24 wasn’t bad. It resolved most of the issues for the season and even delivered on a few big moments, including Jack almost being executed and a very touching final conversation between Jack and Chloe that surely made plenty of die hard 24 fans tear up. Did the finale leave a window open for the movie? Sure but as a series closer, Jack should’ve gone out in a blaze of glory, either buried in medals for his acts of bravery or just plain buried (because some great stories have to end that way). Instead, 24 ended with Jack all alone, injured, grieving and a wanted man who now has to go into hiding. Potential movie or not 24 deserved a better ending and so did we.

Three 24 Fans Win $10,000 and Set World Record 86 Hours of Jack Bauer

Three 24 Fans Win $10,000 and Set World Record: 86 Hours of Jack Bauer

Dec. 07, 2010 | 6:01 a.m.

Fandom went the ultimate distance Monday as three men — Kevin Coon, Farris Hodo and Victor Lopez — set a Guinness World Record for the longest continuous TV-watching period as part of a marathon event put on by Fox for the show “24.”
The three guys also won $10,000 each for their ordeal, which lasted 86 hours, six minutes and 41 seconds, watching every season of Jack Bauer’s travails. The tripling up of the prize money was a surprise to the trio, who were told to come outside minutes after they had surpassed the record.
“I felt strong … but it felt good being done,” Hodo said. “It was down to four yesterday, and one guy fell asleep. I felt so bad for the guy cause he sat right next to me. We were all trying to look out for each other.”
They were the last three of the 100 who had signed up for the marathon on the event’s Facebook page. The group began watching Thursday night in a makeshift room created in the middle of the Hollywood & Highland Center in Hollywood. By Friday afternoon, 49 had dropped out of the contest, all of them receiving copies of the complete series DVD (which comes out Dec. 14). Coon was the first one to show up and ended up being one of the final three.

“It did get kind of crazy toward the end,” Coon said. “There were nights when you just said, ‘Why am I doing  this?’…  Slapping yourself like Jack Bauer.”
Lopez didn’t do it for the money or the world record — he is just a hardcore fan who loved the show and  wanted to be a part of anything that honored it.
“When they announced that they weren’t gonna show ['24'] anymore, I kind of cried. My friends were like, ‘Come on, man! Stop being a little girl,’ ” Lopez said. “I was like, ‘You don’t understand, man. That’s Jack Bauer. He’s everything!’ “
Kimberly Partrick, a Guinness World Record adjudicator, praised the competitors for their fan feat. “These guys are really amazing.  They look like they could go much longer.”
Indeed. Even after the record, they stood around and chatted with fans and media for hours, probably running on adrenaline. Coon said: “I am going to go buy myself a $100 pillow.”

Kiefer Sutherland and Jack Bauer Return to Movie Theaters!

Jack Bauer to Return to Movie Theaters!
Nov 16, 2010
U.S. special agent Jack Bauer was bided goodbye by his ardent viewers as the ended his career in a final "24" television series in May, the actor behind Bauer says he is to return again in movie theatres.

This was great news to his Japanese fans, who gathered in Tokyo on Tuesday to meet and greet the actor Keifer Sutherland -- star of hit series "24" .

The final episode of the series ran out in May when Bauer, after eight horrifying days, turned into a fugitive from justice and was being forced to escape the country he loved.

It seemed a fitting end for Bauer because during the show's eight seasons -- each one-hour episodes elapsed as if it were one hour in a day -- the tough-as-nails super agent always landed in trouble.

The final scene ended with an emotional goodbye between Bauer and his long-time trusted friend and colleague, Chloe O'Brien (Mary Lynn Rajskub), before he disappeared.

At a fan event in Tokyo, Sutherland recalls the actual farewells after the series was over were fittingly the hardest.

"It was a emotional day. It has taken me a minute to adjust. I meant, it was a fourth of my life making that show and some of the best series I've ever had and so it was very hard to say goodbye. Not so much to the show because I know that we're still gonna make the film, and other things, it was to say goodbye to the people that was much more difficult than I had ever imagined," Sutherland told his fans in an event to promote the Bluray and DVD release of the final series in Tokyo.

The cliffhanger ending also undoubtedly left loyal fans guessing about the plot of a planned movie based on the show, which had gone off the Fox network for good.
Sutherland says he and the filmmakers are planning to bring new elements to the "24" film.

"The main difference of the film will be that it will be a two-hour-presentation of a 24-hour-day. It will not be in real time, which will free the writers up greatly. It is very feasible to fly from the United States to Japan, and still have a lot of stuff to do. We can never do that in real time because the flight is 14 hours, that would just not be very good watching," he said.

"It's a little early for me to say, but some amazing film makers have made themselves available to make the film and so we're very excited. It's going to look, I think, very different than the show and again, the time format is gonna create a lot of elements too, but there's also going to be, you know, there gonna be circumstances that are gonna be very similar. It's gonna be a bad day, and Jack Bauer will somehow find himself in the middle of it," he added.

No details, including the release date, were mentioned as the script is still in development.

"24" premiered on U.S. airwaves in November 2001, shortly after the September 11 attacks in the United States, and over the course of eight seasons, its stories often echoed real-life events and controversies.

Some episodes sparked heated debates about the effectiveness of torture, and others touched on issues of press freedom and nuclear arms.
During its run, the show garnered numerous Emmy awards, including best drama series in 2006. Sutherland was nominated for best actor seven times and won once.
