While many eyes are on impending deals for hot projects like the Meryl Streep comedy "Great Hope Springs," the John Hillcoat drama "The Wettest County in the World" and the sci-fi film "Looper," a batch of other projects have announced casting, secured distribution or let buyers know they're available.
The latest group includes directors Neil LaBute, Neil Jordan and Giuseppe Tornatore, and stars Kiefer Sutherland, Kate Bosworth, Saoirse Ronan and Gemma Arterton
Most have yet to be filmed, and some will no doubt never see the light of day.
"Fairytale of New York"– Kiefer Sutherland will play an Irish standup comic and Kate Bosworth an American art aficionado in Lee Cleary's love story, which will film in Northern Ireland and New York and is being sold in the Cannes marketplace by the Little Film Company. The plot is less gritty than the brilliant Pogues song from which it takes its name, which is set in a New York City drunk tank on Christmas Eve.
